The LIT and parents are required to sign the LIT application stating they understand all of the CM requirements to be an LIT. If the child does not live with both parents, it is required that at least one legal guardian sign the application.
All of the things that pertain to a teacher also pertain to the LIT with the exception of preparing and presenting the lesson. In the areas of being an example before the children, an LIT is just as important as the teacher.
- A Leader-in-Training (LIT) is a young person, ages 12 through 17, who is involved in a training program which prepares him or her to be a well-trained ministry worker. He or she must complete “on-the-job” training in the class or ministry they want to participate in, for at least 90 days. Upon completion of training and the recommendation of the teacher and ministry director, they may be assigned to the following areas of ministry:
- Ages 12-14 (Junior High) may serve in the Nursery – Kindergarten classes.
- Ages 15-17 (High School) may serve in all classes Nursery-5th Grade.
- All High School L.I.T.s must consistently attend Wednesday night Youth Group.
- All Jr. High L.I.T.s must attend Sunday Jr. High or Wed. Night Service consistently.
- You will complete a 90-day evaluation time. If your behavior is deemed not appropriate before the end of this time, you may be asked to step down from Children’s Ministry to and come back at a later time. At the end of the evaluation period, the teacher or ministry leader will evaluate your placement in ministry.
- You, along with your parents must commit to making provision concerning faithfulness, timeliness and transportation. (Parents will be responsible to ensure the children can meet the requirements necessary to serve I.E. service time, transportation…)
- You will be required to be at church 30 minutes before service begins for prayer.
- If you miss more than 3 sessions within a quarter, you may not be scheduled to serve if circumstances show lack of commitment regarding your service commitment.
- You will serve in assigned class, unless moved by the Overseer/Hall Monitor due to ministry needs.
- You will give full attention to the needs of the children and teacher during their service time
- You will escort children to restroom and to get water:
- LIT must wait for child right outside of the bathroom door. If the child needs help, the LIT must get help from an adult
- LIT cannot be alone with a child behind closed doors
- Dress code: (including but not limited to)
- GIRLS: No short shorts, no midriff showing when the arms are raised, no spaghetti strap tops, no tight or low cut tops and no tight jeans, no part of undergarment will be shown at any time.
- BOYS: No baggy/saggy clothes, no questionable logos on clothing, no part of undergarment will be shown at any time, shirt must have sleeves.
- Cell Phone/Devices:
- will not be used during service time unless it is needed to help the lesson or activity
- L.I.T.s will focus their full attention in supporting the teacher and will read the lesson before serving
